UM (Unified Messaging) PDF Print E-mail

The simple definition is that UM utilizes a single mailbox to receive a variety of types of messages that include voicemail, Email, and fax messages. There are actually several versions available, and the NuPoint voice mail can handle them, they include:

1.  Unified Messaging-Standard. This is basic access to voice messages from an email client that provides voicemail and email in the Inbox together.  Voicemail is indicated by subject heading and/or speaker icon and the playback uses Default Media Player.  Ths basic UM works with any SMTP-compatible email server

2.  Unified Messaging-Standard with Message Waiting Indication (MWI). Provides access to voice messages from email client and the phone and provides a n accurate display through MWI / Read / Delete. This works with Outlook , Lotus, or Internet Explorer.  The Message status (read / delete) is same whether viewed from email client, web browser, or telephone. From your Email client: you can create a new folder and define the properties of folder to point at the URL of the NuPoint Messenger.  Then to launch a voice mail view, click on voice mail folder and login.

3.  Advanced Unified Messaging (With Outlook/Exchange 2003). On the next release of NuPoint we will be adding the capability of Voice and Fax messages being synchronized between the NuPoint voice mial and the MS Exchange 2003 server.  We will be able to light the message waiting lights (MWI) on the phone regardless of the method of  access.  Voice Message will be able to have the recording or playback on the phone and PC Multi-Media device.  This will work using an Outlook 2003 plug-in for the integration of email, voicemail and fax.
